george-brown-convention-centerSpaceCom 2017 is taking place at the George R. Brown Convention Center located at 1001 Avenida De Las Americas Houston, TX 77010 (map it!). If you are driving to the convention center, you may download directions here.

Parking

The garage at 1002 Aveida de las Americas is under Discovery Green, across the street from the GRB. The daily rate is $12 and is paid upon entering.

The garage at 701 Aveida de las Americas is the new building connected to the GRB at the north end. Guests should enter the GRB via the second floor skybridge. For this garage, please take a ticket and pay inside the GRB before leaving.

Please be vigilant if approached by any company or service that implies or claims to be an official housing provider for SpaceCom. We have been made aware of other housing companies or travel agencies that may be aggressively pursuing you, or your company, to book your guest rooms through their company at supposedly significant discounts. SpaceCom has NO affiliation with these organizations and in no way endorses their services. Watch out for these companies.

AIRPORT INFORMATION

Houston’s Airport System is the fourth largest in the U.S. and is served by two major airports, Bush Intercontinental (IAH), located 20 miles north of downtown, and William P. Hobby (HOU), located about 11 miles south of downtown.

GETTING TO/FROM THE AIRPORT TO DOWNTOWN

  • Taxis
    • Bush Intercontinental – Located outside of baggage claim.
    • Hobby – Located in Curb Zone 3 outside of the baggage claim area.
    • All destinations within Houston’s city limits to/from both airports are charged according to the flat Zone Rate or the meter rate, whichever is LESS. Drivers must accept all major credit cards.
      • Average Zone Rate to Downtown: Bush Intercontinental – $53, Hobby – $26
      • Average Zone Rate to the Galleria: Bush Intercontinental – $60, Hobby – $55
      • Additional departure fee: Bush Intercontinental – $2.75, Hobby – $1.25
  • Shuttles
    • Bush Intercontinental Airport – located at the south side of Terminals A, B and C and at the west end of Terminal E.
    • Hobby Airport – booth located in baggage claim area.
  • Public Transportation – METRO offers local bus service from Bush Intercontinental and Hobby airport. For compete information or to plan your trip, visit ridemetro.org.
    • From Bush Intercontinental Airport:
      Route 102 – Bush IAH
      Service operates Monday through Sunday from Terminal C to downtown.
    • From Hobby Airport:
      Route 88 – Hobby Airport
      Service operates Monday through Saturday from Hobby Airport Transit Center to downtown.

ACCESSIBLE TRANSPORTATION

METRO is committed to a public transportation system that everyone can use. All of METRO’s fixed-route buses are accessible, and the METRORail light-rail system features accessible rail stations and railcars.
